About

Jonathan Hay @haywirephoto has worked in the fields of photography, videography, graphic & web design over the last three decades. After graduating UC Santa Cruz with a major in Art and Cultural Anthropology he started working as a web / graphic designer at various companies for the next 10 years. In his spare time, apart from being an avid skateboarder, surfer and photographer, he founded the underground skateboard magazine Concussion Magazine which grew from a circulation of 300 in 1996 to 10,000 by 2009. Concussion also released three videos which he co-filmed and co-edited that have been distributed all over the world. In 2005 to 2007 Jonathan travelled around Europe working on articles and the distribution network for Concussion Magazine as well as on his freelance career in photography, web and graphic design. He moved back to Santa Cruz, California in 2007 for 2 years, ended Concussion Magazine, relocated to Europe in 2009 where he began a new international skateboard magazine called Confusion Magazine, which is now in 2024, distributed all over the world. He now lives in northern Spain in one of the most beautiful natural paradises in europe.
